Dyeing Easter Eggs Naturally
Anything organic draws me in. This year I thought I would try dyeing my Easter eggs naturally.
It was fun collecting ingredients like red cabbage, tumeric, cinnamon bark and blueberries; and seeing if it would work. First I boiled the items in water to draw out the natural colour. Cooled the liquid and them added 1 tbsp. vinegar to 1 cup of water. With anticipation I watched the eggs take on pretty colours. My favourite was the red cabbage, it turned the eggs into a very pretty blue tone.
My friend who is a grower in Pitt Meadows brought me some of her beautiful butter lettuce which is a showpiece in itself. What a pretty backdrop for the Easter Eggs! Looks like the Easter Bunny is being invited! My cousin's young thirteen year old daughter happened to be visiting and she joined in on the fun of colouring the eggs and assembling them for this Easter Card.
Happy Easter!
